One of the things I really enjoy is when a new technology comes along that is done right…that actually does what they say they can do, and then without hesitation, demonstrate that, in fact, they are all they claim to be. It seems that since the era of Cloud started there have been MANY versions of what a Cloud is and what a Cloud can be used for. Sadly, most are not true Clouds in a sense, but the word sounds good. In this case though, CloudVDI, a Tampa, FL based DaaS (Desktop as a Service) provider does just that. But this isn’t your corporate desktop…this is your corporate desktop on steroids with only one limitation…your imagination. Don’t believe me, read on…I don’t remember when exactly, but I got a call a while back from a friend who had an idea…and he said “take a look at this”…and my jaw hit the floor. What was I looking at? Someone using an Android-powered tablet with a Windows desktop showing on it, running Adobe Creative Suite…using a 3G connection, with so little latency you’d likely not notice. Then it moved over to an AutoCAD application…again, smooth as silk. So naturally, I had to dig deeper to see the “secret sauce” behind this technology…and it comes down to a few things.
- Optimized Cloud hardware
- Exceptionally well tuned load balancing technology
- Properly designed network designed for a heavy, high-speed load
- Superior technical knowledge of the staff
- Great partnerships with their vendors
What’s even better about this is that you can take it for a test-drive before you buy. Today CloudVDI is only in the Florida market, but is planning on expansion into other markets shortly. The only limitation to taking a test drive is your connection speed. To take a test drive of their system, you need to see if you fall between the 40ms and 80ms range.
If you are interested in taking a test drive, please look at their website and follow the instructions.
