My First Year in a “Start-Up”

One YearWell, I survived my first year at Nutanix, and while we are not really a “start-up” any more, I have certainly learned a lot about myself, and about what hard work in the world of a Silicon Valley Pre-IPO company really looks like. It isn’t anything like what I expected, and I am not sure anything I could have done to prepare would have properly prepared me for the past year.  Continue reading “My First Year in a “Start-Up””

Live to Fight Another Day

This past weekend my wife and I took off and went to NYC for a few days. It was wonderful, and NYC will continue to hold the magic that it always has for us as a couple. But just as this picture was being taken, someone in Times Square, not a block from where this picture was taken, noticed a truck parked where it should not have been. Welcome to the world of terrorist bombings, and the aftermath. This will not be a technical posting…not even close. But with all the things going on out there…terrorist attacks, flu, civil unrest, I felt the need to reach into my bag and share things learned from a previous life (let’s leave it at that) that could save your life, and that of someone you love. Thirty Minutes with Jason Burns, Nutanix Sr. Solutions & Performance Engineer

JasonBurns

The latest installment in the “Thirty Minutes” series leads us down one of the most important areas of IT that has for the longest time been compartmentalized. That is the area of Unified Communications. Admittedly not my strong point, it was a real pleasure to sit down with Jason BurnsNutanix Sr. Solutions & Performance Engineer for Unified Communications and learn more about the technical ins and outs of UC, but also how Nutanix is able to be an integral part of a UC solution. The long awaited Nutanix IPO…

Starting the RaceTo many, December means the holiday season, snow, presents and excited kids who can’t wait to rip stuff open that you spent hours lovingly wrapping. To many though, December 2015 will be the year that Nutanix put up our Christmas tree in the form of an S1, announcing our intention to go public. The unwrapping of the presents will happen the day Dheeraj Pandey and team right the bell. But this does not signify the end of a race, but rather the beginning of a new one.  Continue reading “The long awaited Nutanix IPO…”

Thirty Minutes with Ajay Aggarwal, Nutanix Vice President for Systems Engineering, Americas

Ajay AggarwalI recently had the opportunity to sit down my boss, Ajay Aggarwal, Nutanix Vice President for Systems Engineering, Americas, to talk about a very broad range of topics. A veteran of the start-up world, Ajay has “been there and done that” and what started off as a discussion about start-ups quickly went on to other topics such as the perfect Systems Engineer and what it is like to manage a team that spans two continents, four languages and any number of cultures. It was a fascinating conversation, and if only one thing shows as true, Ajay has a passion not only for technology and the business, but the people who work for him. Thirty Minutes with Parmeet Chaddha, Vice President of Global Services and Customer Success at Nutanix

ParmeetI have been in this industry for a long time and have and have seen a lot of technologies that have impacted the world each in their own way.  There is, however, one thing that remains the same no matter what decade we are in, and no matter who the producer of the technology is…and if it was not for the title of this article, I would be willing to bet you would not be able to guess what that constant is. The truth is that “shelfware” has, and always will, be with us. What is shelfware you ask? Simply put, it is technology that you purchase but fail to implement properly. Because of the failed design and deployment, it sits in the box on a shelf never to be heard from again.  Continue reading “Thirty Minutes with Parmeet Chaddha, Vice President of Global Services and Customer Success at Nutanix”
